Hosta 'Spartan Arrow'

NEW! (H. Benedict, NR) Mini Hosta 'Slim and Trim' is a seldom encountered Benedict seedling of H. 'Purple Verticillated Elf'. The 1-inch by 5-inch long medium blue elongated leaves form a clump 6-inches tall by 12 to 14 inches across. Lavender flowers top the vigorous clump in late summer. (P. Aden, 1986) M Glossy green leaves with wide white margins are one of the many attributes of 'So Sweet'. Large very fragrant white flowers in late summer, an incredible growth rate and sun tolerance helped make 'So Sweet' the 1996 American Hosta Growers Hosta of the Year! (H. Hansen/Shady Oaks Nursery, Reg. Pending) L Hosta 'Spartacus' features elongated heart-shaped leaves with a series of light ripples along the leaf edges. This sport of 'Sea Gulf Stream' maintains the leaf shape and plant habit of the parent except it has a dark green leaf center and a narrow yellow edge, accentuating the rippled leaf margin. Pale lavender flowers open on arching scapes in late June. Named after the gladiator slave who led an uprising to over throw his captors in ancient Rome and became an ancient folk hero. NEW! (G.R. Goodwin, 2000) Mini This delightful introduction from Indianapolis hybridizer Randy Goodwin features shiny dark-green leaves are incredibly rippled. The compact clump is topped by masses of lavender flowers. With its vigorous growth rate and compact size 'Spartan Arrow' lends itself for edging or use in the rock garden. Hosta 'Spilt Milk'

Hosta 'Stained Glass'

Hosta 'Stiletto'

Hosta 'Striptease'
(M. Seaver, 1999) M-L Mildred Seaver's dramatic 'Spilt Milk' features white streaks and splashes that spill over green heart shaped leaves. A beautiful and unique collector's hosta makes a conversation piece in any collection. The plant has wrinkled and textured leaves typical of 'Tokudama' derivatives. (H.Hansen/Shady Oaks Nursery, 1999) M-L This newer introduction is a sport of the well-known 'Guacamole'. Exhibiting the same rapid growth rate and mounding form, 'Stained Glass' differs by displaying its variegation earlier in the spring and maintaining a much brighter, brilliant gold throughout the season. Prominent veins throughout the leaf gives it a "stained glass window" effect. Large fragrant near-white flowers perfume the garden in August. 2006 American Hosta Growers Hosta of the Year! (P. Aden, 1987) S Long, narrow, wavy leaves with thin white margins, make 'Stiletto' a distinctive small hosta. A stoloniferous growth habit lends itself well to use in borders as well as an edging plant. Funnel-shaped purple striped flowers in late summer. (R. & C. Thompson, 1991) M An outstanding hosta certain to be one of the most talked about plants in hosta circles! An intriguing sport of 'Gold Standard', it has a wider dark green margin. It was named 'Striptease' because a white strip appears between the green and gold area. A one of a kind collector's hosta. 2005 American Hosta Growers Hosta of the Year!.

Hosta 'Sugar and Spice'

Hosta 'Sum & Substance'

Hosta 'Sun Power'
(R. Mortko, 2004) S-M Few hostas enter the market and rise to "cult status" seemingly overnight. Hosta 'Stitch in Time' gained instant appeal among hosta collectors "in the know". This most unusual sport of 'Summer Breeze' discovered by nurseryman Rob Mortko of Kansas City, features thick, vivid yellow leaves centered by an uneven green interior. A specimen hosta for a choice garden spot. Extraordinary! Grown in 3 inch pots in trays of 16. Our price reflects the difficulty in propagation. Asexual propagation prohibited by law. NEW! (M. Zilis, 2003) M From nurseryman Mark Zilis of Q & Z comes this vigorous sport of H. 'Invincible'. 'Sugar and Spice' has glossy, medium-green leaves edge with a bright creamy-white edge. The medium sized mound has good sun tolerance and is topped by fragrant lavender flowers in August. (P. Aden, 1980) L The immense leaves of the classic 'Sum and Substance' make it the most popular gold hosta ever introduced. An ideal specimen or background plant, some sun is required to draw out the best coloration. Lavender flowers compliment the foliage in midsummer. The legendary clump at Wade and Gatten Nursery measures over 9 feet across, probably making it the largest hosta in the world! 2004 American Hosta Growers Hosta of the Year! (P. Aden, 1986) L One of the very best gold hostas. This hosta features unique twisted and pointed golden leaves which adds style and class to the shady landscape. Near white flowers top the clump in early summer. Well suited for the middle to back of the hosta border. Choice! (H. Hansen/Shady Oaks Nursery, NR) M 'Sweet Innocence' is the tetraploid form of 'Fragrant Bouquet'. Like 'Fragrant Bouquet', 'Sweet Innocence' has heart-shaped apple-green leaves, but with a much wider leaf margin. Large fragrant near-white flowers perfume the late summer air, and have wider petals than 'Fragrant Bouquet NEW! (Sebright Gardens, 2005) Mini Thomas Johnson's unique sport of H. 'Tiny Tears' has fascinated me since its award winning debut at the 1997 Indianapolis Hosta Convention. This vigorous miniature hosta is comprised of medium-green lance-shaped leaves that are folded somewhat remeniscent to H. 'Praying Hands'. An excellent candidate for the shaded rock garden or for container planting. Tiny purple flowers top the clump in midsummer.
