Hosta 'Extacy' PRRA

(W. Zumbar, NR) Mini I've grown this hosta for many years and it always seems to illicit favorable comments from garden visitors. 'Dragon Tails' forms a fast growing clump of long, narrow yellow leaves with a wonderful miniature wavy edge. The small clump would be equally at home in a rock garden, trough garden, or in a shaded woodland border. Lavender flowers top the clump in midsummer. (H. Hansen/Shady Oaks Nursery, 2002)  L  From the beloved classic 'Blue Angel' comes 'Earth Angel', a wonderful variegated form. Large heart-shaped blue-green leaves have a wide creamy-white border. Pale lavender flowers top the clump in early summer. Destined to be a show stopper when used as a specimen in the shady landscape. 2009 American Hosta Growers Hosta of the Year! (H. Hansen/Shady Oaks Nursery, 1999) M This selection of 'Whirlwind' was named because the center variegation holds its white variegation better in the landscape. Lavender flowers top the clump in midsummer. A good grower for a white centered plant. NEW! (H. Hansen, PPR Asserted) S-M The creamy-white wedged-shaped leaves of 'Extacy' are margined with a wide, blue-green edge. With its flashy variegation and upright growth habit, it is suitable for specimen use. Lavender flowers top the clump in midsummer. A 'Sweet Susan Streaked' x (H. longipes x 'Blue Blush') hybrid.

Hosta 'Eye Catcher'

Hosta 'Faith'

Hosta 'Fantabulous'
Hosta 'Fantasy Island'
NEW! (Goodwin) This Randy Goodwin introduction has thick, cupped leaves that are heavily corrugated. A vigorous grower, the chartreuse leaves are viridescent, with the color most intense in the spring. A limited one-time offering. NEW! (D. Dean, 1999) L From Minnesota hosta hybridizer Don Dean comes this thick-leaved, gold hosta. With maturity 'Faith' develops rounded, brassy-gold leaves with fantastic corrugation. Near-white flowers top the vigorous clump in early summer. Morning sun to lightly filtered shade results in the brightest leaf coloration. Choice! (E. Elslager, 1999) M The sparkling deep green leaves of 'Fantabulous' are edged with a broad creamy-white margin. The slightly rippled leaf margin gives the impression the foliage is flowing from the center of the plant. Sited as a specimen it will command your attention when placed in the shaded garden. Lavender flowers top the clump in midsummer. (R. Solberg, 2002) S Another case where "more is better." This selection from 'Island Charm' features white heart-shaped leaves with a wide green margin. With its increased leaf margin, 'Fantasy Island' is a large, more vigorous plant than its parent. Pale lavender flowers open in midsummer.
Hosta 'Fire and Ice'
Hosta 'Fire Island'
Hosta 'First Frost'
Hosta 'First Mate'
(H. Hansen/Shady Oaks Nursery, 1999) M This spectacular sport of 'Patriot' has pure white centers and very dark green margins. The leaves are heavy with substance. Lavender flowers are produced on white flower stems. A flashy hosta that contrasts nicely with 'Patriot'. (W.Brincka, 1998) S The brilliant yellow leaves of 'Fire Island' are accented by light red petioles with red coloration extending into the base of the leaves. Although the intensity of the foliage lessens into the summer, the intense spring effect more than earns its keep in the garden. Lavender blooms top the clump in summer. (P. Scolnik/B. Solberg, 2002) M This fantastic sport of 'Halcyon' was developed by Patricia Scolnik of Chapel Hill. The beautiful blue leaves are edged by a creamy-yellow margin that brightens to creamy-white by midsummer. Lavender flowers top the clump in late summer. This durable hosta received its name because it looks great until autumn's "first frost." Stunning! (J. Machen, Jr., 2003) S The latest in a series of tetraploid sports from nurseryman John Machen, of Mobjack Nurseries. This improved selection of 'Kapitan' features long wavy leaves with improved vigor due to the wider dark green leaf margin. Dark lavender flowers open in midsummer. I have been very pleased with its performance in the garden, very pleased indeed.
Hosta 'Fragrant Blue'
Hosta 'Fragrant Bouquet'
Hosta 'Francee'
Hosta 'Frances Williams'
(P. Aden, 1988) S This wonderful small hosta produces lovely near white, slightly fragrant flowers and chalky blue foliage. An excellent blue due to its tendency to produce new leaves throughout the growing season. (P. Aden, 1982) M This choice cultivar features apple green leaves with wide irregular yellow-white margins. Large funnel shaped, fragrant white flowers open in mid to late summer. A premium choice! 1998 American Hosta Growers Hosta of the Year. (M. Klopping/A.H.S., 1986) M Hosta 'Francee' features forest green heart-shaped leaves that are edged with narrow white margins. Lavender flowers in midsummer. The white margin holds up quite well in full sun as well as shade. A classic hosta variety excellent for mass planting and general landscape use. (F. Williams/C. Williams, 1986) L Perhaps the best known of all the hosta cultivars, this classic hardly needs any introduction. Heavily corrugated leaves are circled by a wide yellow margin. White flowers in early summer. A H. sieboldiana 'Elegans' sport.
Hosta 'Fried Bananas'
Hosta 'Fried Green Tomatoes'
Hosta 'Frosted Dimples'
Hosta 'Frosted Jade'
(R. Solberg, 1994) L Glossy gold leaves grace this plant which quickly forms a large mound. Large fragrant white flowers occur in August. The companion plant to 'Fried Green Tomatoes' and 'Guacamole'. (R. Solberg, 1994) L This is the frosty green form of Guacamole' (from 'Fragrant Bouquet'). The large green leaves darken in color as the season progresses. Magnificent, fragrant white flowers in August. Excellent growth rate. A great contrast to 'Fragrant Bouquet'! (D. Dean, 1999) S From Minnesota hosta breeder Don Dean, comes this combination of variegation and texture. Elongated heart-shaped leaves are edged with a crisp, creamy border. The thick leaves have a "pebbled" surface, and hold their blue coloration well. Near white flowers compliment the foliage in midsummer. (L.Maroushek, 1978) L Flat, heart-shaped, gray-green leaves with distinct white margins make 'Frosted Jade' a favorite selection. A H. montana hybrid with a similar growth habit. Funnel-shaped white flowers June to July.

Established clumps are capable of producing stems with over 50 flowers on each stem. This hosta was selected on Japan's Mount Fuji by Gotemba Nursery and is recently available in the U.S. The name Fuji refers to Mount Fuji, botan is in reference to the tree peony. A choice hosta. (H. Gowen 1991) M Hideko's 'Golden Friendship' features round, cup-shaped leaves with great substance. The thick yellow leaves form a nice contrast for the lavender flowers of midsummer.
